At the beginning of this year, I wrote this:
I want to be confident each time I pick up my Nikon, and use my brand new Lightroom software to edit smartly, thoughtfully, easily.
In 2014, I want to be better at photography. I want to pick up my camera and shoot. I want to shoot in RAW. I want to learn everything about editing. And so does my friend, Alison of Writing, Wishing.
Together, we conceived the idea of a one-year photography project, Through The Lens Thursday. Once a week (yes, on Thursday), we will post a picture (or pictures) we have taken based on a prompt. Our hope is that together, we can teach and learn from each other, stay accountable to our goal of improving our skills, and hopefully, be taking some gorgeous photographs.
And now, I’m so excited to be pairing up with Alison again this year for another round of photo prompts for Through The Lens Thursday!
So, I may have slacked on the Flickr group towards the end (whoops), but I loved challenging myself every week to try to come up with something new and different to follow the prompt. And, as I went back through the weeks, I can see that I have improved…quite a bit, I think.
Some of my favorites from 2014 were Play (especially the first shot of T holding Ervin), Sparkle, the sunflowers for Golden, our new puppy for Looking Up, a dandelion for Sunset, and the candidness of Reflection.
We have a brand new list of prompts for the new year, so join us if you’d like!
I'm so proud of us! Can't wait to dive in with the new prompts, and see what we come up with.

I'd really like to join the fun more regularly for the next year! It really does challenge me to think twice about the pictures I snap – to be better at photography. But can I ask for two things? 1) a button code so we could include it in our posts and 2) a linky thing so it's easier to visit others who participate? Just a wish list, I guess. Nevertheless, count me in for 2015! 😉
Yeah, we thought about a linky, Janice, but oh my word, it's a lot of work to keep up with. We wanted the pressure to be low for this. There is button code, though, I think….hmm….or just, you know, grab the picture and link to one of us. 😉

I think I want to try again in 2015! Maybe just on the flickr group and not with posts, but I liked that it forced me to pull out my camera every week and try different things, and I want to do that again!!
