Ally over at Two Normal Moms picked the Monday Listicles topic for this week. But, I’m actually going to use her original idea (10 Things That Give You Anxiety) because frankly, it’s kind of been at the forefront of my mind lately.

But, I’m not even going to bother numbering them, because I couldn’t stop at ten. Anxious, much?

  • Pulling out of the driveway for a long trip (did I forget anything? Diapers? Wipes? Are the kids going to throw up? Did they finish their Dramamine-laced milk?)
  • An ambulance tearing down the street with its lights and sirens on.
  • Hearing the cry that signals the end of nap time.
  • Hearing a yell DURING nap time, and waiting, not breathing, to see if the end-of-nap time cry will come too early.
  • Glancing at the clock in the morning (Why have you not finished your breakfast? Where are your gloves? Put on your coat! Do you have your library book?).
  • Turning the corner at the bottom of the stairs and seeing water on the basement floor.
  • Seeing the school’s number pop up on my caller ID after I’ve dropped off the kids.
  • The first time leaving the house with a newly-potty trained toddler in underwear.
  • A sink full of dishes right before I go to bed, leaving no room to make breakfast in the morning.
  • Walking into a room full of strangers.
  • Driving to the airport.
  • The piles of laundry that have mysteriously grown overnight: dirty, clean and in-between.
  • Getting four kids ready for bed by myself.
  • Trying to think of a dairy-free meal to make for the entire family a week after learning that I had to cut dairy out of Essie’s diet.

I think if I sat here long enough, I could double this list. See, Ally? You’re not alone.

What are some things that make you anxious?
