I almost missed the Pinterest Challenge this week. I told you, it was a crazy week.

But, over the course of the week I got it done, and am now linking up with Julie at Dutch Being Me.

Anyway, I found this on Pinterest, and thought it was an adorable idea:

I tried to find the original link, supposedly on http://www.bystephanielynn.com, but the pin went straight to her website instead of the post with this project. I tried wading through for a while and gave up.

Anyway, I had to tweak it a little. (I apologize for not taking pictures as I went, but it’s pretty self-explanatory) I started out wanting to use card stock, but I only had white and pink (neither of which really goes with our downstairs decor). I used it anyway (because I just wanted to get it done), along with some dark bluish-purple paper, and traced around everybody’s hand.

Then I realized that T.’s hand print, the biggest and the one that would go on top, was white and wouldn’t show up on the white paper I planned to use.

Soooo….I improvised. I wrapped a piece of card stock with some cute fabric that sort of went with the hand prints and glued around the edges on the back with some permanent scrapbooking glue. When it was dry, I glued another piece of card stock on the back to make it sturdier. If I would have thought about it a little longer, I would have glued the fabric to a piece of cardboard.

I also realized that since I didn’t trim to card stock, my “mat” was 8.5 x 11 inches instead of 8 x 10. Soooo….I wouldn’t be framing it. But, I decided to use that card board after all, and glue a piece to the back so it would stick out on the wall a little.

I glued all of the hand prints together in a stack.

It’s kind of hard to see all six hands in the photo (there are two pink ones, mine and Ivy’s), but I thought it turned out pretty cute! It’s hanging in our bedroom.
