It’s been quite a day.

First, Essie saw an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor about her tongue tie. The doctor said the skin thingy under her tongue is definitely longer than average, and we decided that even if it wasn’t certain that it would affect her speech or anything later on, we’d rather go ahead and get it taken care of before she starts freaking out about going to the doctor at all (like her big brother and sister. Ahem.). So, she’s going to have it snipped in a quick and easy procedure at some point soon.

The girls in the waiting room

Then we had lunch in an actual restaurant, which was slightly less relaxing than it could have been, as Ervin used the last half or so of the time to cry even though I fed him as soon as we got there. He was quiet in the car, however. Go figure.

So then, Ivy had her first “Pre-Ballet” class. It turned out that she was the only child enrolled in her particular session time. It’s only a 45-minute class, and she spent the first 20 minutes or so crying and telling her teacher that she wanted to “see mama”. Even after Essie, Erv and I went into the studio and sat watching her, she still kept saying that she “wants to see mama”. FINALLY, she, along with her little sister (who is definitely NOT enrolled in the class for four-year-olds) started to do the silly songs, bean bags dances and hula-hooping.

Next week, she’ll be wearing a leotard, tights, and ballet shoes, so OH YES, THERE WILL BE PICTURES.

As if that wasn’t enough excitement for the day, Henry had his “Meet the Teacher” night at school tonight. I stopped at my parents’ house as soon as the other three and I got back, and swapped the girls for Henry. He was way wired and excited and couldn’t seem to grasp that he wasn’t actually going to kindergarten today.

Of course, as soon as we got there, he snapped shut and played the shy card.

Tomorrow is the BIG DAY. Our oldest is going to kindergarten! Holy Cow. I might possibly be more nervous than Henry is. And also….I don’t know how in the world I’m going to wake up that early every freaking day and make it until bedtime. Please pray for me. HA!

This is the very first school lunch I’ve ever made. Not bad, huh? Probably, it’s going to go downhill from here and I will NOT be taking pictures of lunches in the future. I’ll be lucky if I actually get them MADE.

Eating a peanut butter and jelly people sandwich doesn’t make you a cannibal, does it??

(Oh, and if you’re so inclined, I’d appreciate it if you checked out my latest post on cafemom.com! The spotlight’s on Big Erv over there.)
