BeFunky Photo Editing and Graphic Design

I was invited to review a photo editing software and app set with a brand new graphic design function, and with a name like BeFunky, I could. not. refuse.

BeFunky Design

I’ve tried several photo editing programs before, some I’ve never used again and some I use occasionally. This one was really easy, though, and had a lot of fun options for adding interest to your photos.

The first thing I did was edit some headshots that I had Ivy help me with. It was really easy to make some changes with exposure, sharpening, color, etc, and in a few minutes, I had these (the photo on the left is straight out of my Nikon, the right is the edited version):

I used the “Vintage” effect on this first one and cropped it.

I lightened up the exposure on this one and even used the “teeth whitening” tool under “Touch Up” for this one:

And this one ended up being my new Facebook profile picture:

The Collage Maker that I used for these Before and After pictures was totally easy, too, and there were so many options that I didn’t play around with.

I also used the Photo Editor of the first day of school picture of all three kids.

This was the Before:

And this was the After:

I added all of the numbers in 2015 separately under the Graphics Tab, and used Screen under Blend Mode to make them sort of an overlay. I then added the Typewriter text preset under Text to do the “1st Day of School” font, color, overlay/background without doing a lot of work but still ending up with a cool text effect.

There are a lot of fun graphics, stickers, text options, and effects to choose from and play with.

Just for fun, I messed around with the effects on this picture, also using the Photo Editor:

And ended up settling on this, “Grunge” effect:

I like myself with dark hair.

And last but not least, the Graphic Designer is SUPER COOL for making images for your blog, Pinterest, Facebook, whatever. You can even upload pictures from Pixabay, their free online stock photo partner, if you don’t have an image that works for what you’re doing.

I used a template in the Blog Images tab for this one. It also took me about five minutes!

There is a free version of the software and app with the option to upgrade to the premium version for additional effects, templates, etc. And the app has the same features and is just as fun and easy to use as the website, so I can just as easily edit a picture on my phone as I can edit a Nikon picture that I’ve uploaded to my computer.

What would you use BeFunky for?

I received compensation for this review, but all opinions, experiences, and editing successes/blunders are my own.

Through the Lens Thursday 2015!

At the beginning of this year, I wrote this: I want to be confident each time I pick up my Nikon, and use my brand new Lightroom software to edit smartly, thoughtfully, easily. In 2014, I want to be better at photography. I want to pick up my camera and shoot. I want to shootContinue Reading

Through the Lens Thursday: Loud

I told the kids that they could yell and scream this week, specifically for this prompt, and I think the results show a little bit of the chaos that is our house. And this is totally fuzzy, but I love it because basically, this is my life with Ervin.   Through The Lens Thursday isContinue Reading

Through the Lens Thursday: Lemon

I use the prompt “lemon” loosely this week. Big surprise, eh? There was an amazing moon this week (was it a super moon? People on Facebook seem to think so). And the moon, for me, was really difficult to capture. I don’t have a zoom lens, so the pictures look so much farther away thenContinue Reading

Through The Lens Thursday: Books

We went to St. Louis this past weekend, and while I was at Bloggy Boot Camp, my kids, husband, and mom went to the City Museum and other fun stuff. While they were there, they got to pick out a souvenir, and the girls both chose crystal growing kits. I, being the holder of anContinue Reading

Through The Lens Thursday: Dark

It was a dark and stormy night… No, really, it was. After a couple of positively gorgeous days, a cold front came through, bringing gusty winds and lots of rain. This one was a challenge, but that’s what we’re here for, right? My camera (a Nikon D3100) only goes up to an ISO of 3200,Continue Reading

Through The Lens Thursday: Hot

Once again, the prompt this week is a challenge….there’s nothing hot about the beginning of March in Kansas this year. It made me think outside the box a little, just like flower did. I mentioned yesterday that we did some baking, and I also tried to work on some food photography. Some of these picturesContinue Reading

Through The Lens Thursday: White

Through The Lens Thursday is a self-improvement photography project that Alison of Writing, Wishing and I are doing this year. See the bottom of the post for ways to join in! The prompt this week is White, but I’d like to give an alternate title to this post: Leftovers. This is a close up ofContinue Reading

A Family That Shoots Together #iPPP

Like I mentioned last week, Sarah had to bow out of co-hosting duties, and Robin of Farewell, Stranger is taking over. Don’t forget to go visit and give Robin a warm, iPPP welcome! Also, if you haven’t signed up for the #TNTDuel virtual 5K yet, I’d love to have you! Laura and I are facingContinue Reading
