Yesterday was my dad’s birthday, and to celebrate, the kids and I took him to Starlight Theatre and out to eat. It may not have been his first choice to see the touring production of the fairy tale musical, Beauty and the Beast, but we all had a great time.

The stage was an elaborate set of vivid colors, and the dramatic introduction of mystery and intrigue behind a screen began the tale. Beautiful costumes and dancing added to the mesmerizing, dizzying eye candy that was this production.

The famous songs from the Disney movie were familiar, of course, but there were many more Broadway originals that moved the story along and tugged at our emotions. It’s a true love story and just like the animated version, you find yourself rooting for the “odd couple” to find their happiness, together.
The show is an absolute delight for the entire family, from the youngest to the young at heart.
