Normally, when we eat dippable foods, our family sticks to the basics: barbecue sauce, ranch dressing, ketchup, and mustard (or, the last two mixed together for some of us). But I was inspired by Foster Farms (remember, the makers of our very favorite gluten free corn dogs??)

Honestly, though, I needed help. I just haven’t ever made my own sauces (except that one time we ran out of barbecue sauce and it was absolutely essential to that night’s meal). I asked a couple of friends who shared a couple of recipes and I made them my own (and by that I mean, I used what we had, ingredient-wise, and omitted a couple of things my family hates).

The first is technically a meatloaf glaze (adapted from this recipe), but the cumin turned regular ol’ ketchup into a dip with a kick, and the honey added a little sweetness. (I used honey crystals because I haven’t searched Pinterest for ways to re-liquefy honey when we don’t use it fast enough).

Glazed-Over Dip

sauce 1

Ingredients:

1/2 cup ketchup

1 tsp ground cumin

1 dash Worcestershire sauce

1 TB honey crystals (or regular honey)

Mix well and serve. If you use the crystals like I did, pop the bowl in the microwave for about 15 seconds, just to get them melty and incorporated.

This second dip is creamy and rich and a bit garlicky, perfect for chicken nuggets or french fries or corn dogs or well, anything.

Creamy Garlic Mustard Dip

sauce 2

Ingredients:

1/8 cup mayo

1/8 cup yellow mustard

1/2 tsp paprika

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp onion powder

These are super easy dips to make, and if I do say so myself, pretty darn tasty when you want to kick your the week is long and I feel like cooking an easy dinner dinner up a few notches.

I received product from Foster Farms to eat and enjoy and develop recipes for, but I got no other compensation and all opinions are my own.
