Everyone’s favorite redheaded orphan is on her way to Starlight Theatre, and she’s bringing her orphan friends, rescued pup Sandy and LOTS of fun family entertainment with her! The national touring production of ANNIE is in town for only three nights as it plays a special Broadway weekend engagement at Starlight from Friday, June 19 through Sunday, June 21. The show begins at 8 p.m.each night.

We were so excited about this show that on top of the two tickets I was given, I bought three more.

The girls and I have been playing the soundtrack to the newest movie version of Annie since we saw it in theaters last Christmas. I knew this version would be more like the original play and movie, but we all wanted to see it anyway. It’s such a classic, well-loved musical. The Tony Award®-winning show is directed by original lyricist/director Martin Charnin…..who’s directing the touring production for the 19th time since the musical debuted on Broadway in April 1977.

Even though the production was set in 1933, a tough time in American history, when the Great Depression was dividing the country into the very rich and the very poor and the threat of war was imminent, it was relatable and the audience was full of completely engaged, enthralled kids. They could not have chosen a better cast, truly….every singing voice was strong and every character believable. The orphan girls were all adorable and so talented…they were my favorites. Even Sandy, the dog, stole the show a couple of times.

It was a gorgeous night to sit outside enjoying the show, and really a lot of fun for all of us.

It is a really popular show, and for good reason, so plan to get there early!
