Our family hasn’t really done much in the way of family trips/vacations/outings this summer, mostly because we’re still trying to figure out how to do it all with four kids.

But, last weekend was BEAUTIFUL. I think the high was about 87, and it was breezy and gorgeous out. We had nothing planned….no jewelry shows, no birthday parties, no nothing, which does NOT happen often, especially in the summer. Plus, Henry started kindergarten yesterday, so we knew that the clock was ticking if we were going to get any fun in before summer was over.

This is where the KC Zoo comes in. Our family had never been, I hadn’t been in forever, and the website made it look like so much fun. Oh, and I got a membership online that included unlimited train, tram, boat, sky lift and carousel rides. It’s totally going to pay for itself. Off we went!

Getting ready to head out into the animal kingdom!

Erv and Mama

How much do I love this carrier?? This is Ervin NURSING. I fed him three times that day, without ever having to take him out to do it. Nobody could see anything. It was the greatest thing EVER.

Riding the train

S-T-R-E-T-C-H!

Brown-bagging it

The boys look so involved in what Ivy’s saying, don’t they?
The Barn of Education…or Something
The Pile of Lemurs

Cute Overload?!

Feeding the Deer

Carousel!

Sssssssnakes!
The view from the African Sky Lift (my favorite thing to do at the zoo, I think)

I just put this in because his eye looks so pretty. đŸ™‚

Erv wasn’t a huge fan of the lift, because we were sitting. He prefers walking.

They were so nonchalant about being across the glass from a lioness.

These were my FAVORITE animals! I just love their faces.

Waiting for the hippo to resurface

The boat entrance

A blurry picture of the boat…

On the boat.

The tram. Our final ride of the day. We were TIRED.

Our first and last stop of the day. The polar bear, the zoo’s newest star. We were lucky enough to see him being fed on our way out.

Essie made a new friend (to stare at).
There were plenty more animal pictures, but I won’t bore you with them.
We had a lot of fun (and got a lot of exercise, because there is a lot of walking!).
