I know you’re all dying to know how my first mystery hostess show went.

Well, okay, I’ll tell you! It was great!! I was excited that six ladies showed up (and for out where I live, that’s an accomplishment), two of whom were my neighbors that I’d never really talked to much before, and two of whom were gals I had never met but were related to one of my neighbors. One was a good friend of mine (whom I’ve recently turned to the “dark side” of jewelry addiction) and the other was from my mom’s group. So it was a very good mix of people. And, I felt really good because a couple of weeks ago, I had driven around our whole neighborhood and personally invited all of my neighbors (which is WAY out of my comfort zone) in the freezing cold dark. So the fact that some of them showed up made it all so worth it.
I think everybody had a good time (as far as I can tell anyway). And the BIG winner ended up being the neighbor who brought the two ladies with her! She got close to $200 in free jewelry, and all she had to do was show up!

I did underestimate the amount of work it was going to be for me, though. Being a hostess (setting up snacks, cleaning “one room and a bathroom” as we jewelers like to say, getting some orders beforehand) really isn’t too much work, and neither is being a jeweler (setting up the jewelry display, putting out catalogs and order forms, etc). But put those two jobs together, and guess what? You have twice as much work–imagine that! So I was a little frazzled and behind on time, but my guests were very forgiving, and the actual show went pretty smoothly.

I’m already planning my next mystery hostess show….I’m thinking summer…
